September 20, 1935 - March 6, 2013

Earl Goodrick of Lake Dallas, TX passed away on March 6, 2013 at the age of 77. He was born in Kansas City, Kansas on September 20, 1935 to Wilbur E. and Vera E. Goodrick. Earl met the love of his life, Emma Lee Wall when they were kids, then while attending Washington High School they fell in love. After getting married in 1954 and moving to Denver, CO they had two sons, Douglas L. Goodrick, and Stephen E. Goodrick. Earl was a pioneer in broadcast television. He directed the Jack LeLanne Show, the Porter Wagner Show, The Jimmy Dean Show, and many others. Earl set industry standards in "Lighting for Color," "Multiple Camera Switching," and incorporating music into television production. Earl won the Milwaukee Press Award for his inspirational documentary "Paul, a Day in the Life of" where he told the story of a small boy named Paul whose life was saved by a local surgeon who removed a giant brain aneurism from the boy's brain. This was a true tale of hope and inspiration for millions. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 12pm at the Denton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Swisher Cemetery in Lake Dallas. Jimmy McLeod will officiate. Earl is survived by his loving wife, Emma Lee; sisters, Jerry, Estelle, and Delores; sons, Douglas and Stephen; and grandchildren, Sean, Jenna, Katherine, Alice, Samantha, David, Grace, Christopher, and Stephanie Goodrick. The world has lost a man dedicated to his family and an innovator/pioneer of broadcasting.
